About LVIA Tanzania

Lay Volunteers International Association (LVIA) is an Italian NGO working in ten African Countries, including Tanzania. The Headquarters are based in Cuneo, Italy, while the offices in Tanzania are located in Kongwa District, Dodoma Region (P.O. Box 160, Kongwa). LVIA has been working in Tanzania for over 30 years, supporting community development with a particular focus on agriculture, health, water, and hygiene.

Project Overview

LVIA is implementing the project “Tunza Majingira Tumia Jiko Banifu” under the “Green Tanzania Cookstove Programme”. The project aims to:

  • Distribute 26,000 improved cookstoves in 30 villages
  • Reduce firewood/charcoal consumption by 70%
  • Mitigate deforestation and respiratory health risks
  • Promote environmental conservation through tree planting

Key Responsibilities

Tasks:

  • Support project implementation at the local level
  • Coordinate distribution of cookstoves and materials
  • Conduct awareness campaigns and community sensitization
  • Monitor project progress through field visits
  • Collect data and prepare reports
  • Collaborate with village representatives and government authorities

Skills Required:

  • Strong relationship-building with beneficiaries
  • Autonomy in conducting sensitization activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and report-writing skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Gender sensitivity

Requirements

Essential:

  • University degree/diploma in rural development, environmental studies, or related field
  • 1+ year of relevant field experience
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (report writing)
  • Digital literacy (mobile apps, data collection tools)
  • Valid driving license (cars & motorcycles)
  • Tanzanian citizenship (Kongwa District residents preferred)

Preferred:

  • Relevant certifications
  • Experience with international NGOs/donor-funded projects
