Position: Field Officer – Poultry Production (14 Posts)

Location: Kahama, Igunga, Nzega, Kondoa, Singida, Iramba, Mkalama, Chemba

Assignment Type: Consultancy (11 months, performance-based)

Deadline: Two weeks from 28th August 2025

Key Requirement: Diploma/Degree in Animal Health/Livestock Production + rural poultry experience

Registered under BRELA (No. 92934) and EWURA (LSSP-2025-3-2405), the company implements the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Livelihood Restoration Program-Poultry Services (LRP-4), empowering Project-Affected Households (PAHs) across 231 villages in eight regions.

Purpose of the Role

To provide extension services, technical support, and field-level implementation of poultry production interventions, ensuring PAHs adopt improved practices while adhering to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.

Key Responsibilities

Extension Activities

  • Provide advisory services and hands-on technical assistance to poultry farmers.
  • Conduct household/on-farm visits to diagnose production challenges.
  • Collaborate with government livestock officers for coordinated service delivery.

Technical Training & Capacity Building

  • Train PAHs on poultry housing, feeding, health care, and biosecurity.
  • Promote record-keeping and a "farming as a business" mindset.

Field Implementation & Monitoring

  • Distribute chicks, feeds, vaccines, and equipment; monitor utilization.
  • Track flock performance and disease early warning signs.

PAHs Mobilization & Market Linkages

  • Organize beneficiaries into Poultry Producer Groups.
  • Link PAHs to input suppliers and support collective marketing.

Data Collection & Coordination

  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to the Zonal Coordinator.
  • Liaise with village leaders, NGOs, and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma/Degree in Animal Health, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Fluency in English, Kiswahili, and local languages (e.g., Maa, Kisukuma).
  • Practical poultry production knowledge and rural household experience.
