Job Title: Legal Manager – Litigation

Key Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB), Advocate of High Court, and litigation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Files legal suits for all accounts identified by or referred to legal from the Head of Credit Recovery.
  • Gathers all significant documents and information through case management plan and sets up a case file.
  • Manages other cases including labour, contracts, breach of mandate, and others as directed by Head of Legal.
  • Prepares drafts of pleadings and comprehensive instructions/briefs to external lawyers.
  • Involved in strategic management of external lawyers' performance.
  • Ensures legal risk in recovery is minimized by establishing performance-based contracts with Debt Collectors, private investigators, and valuers.
  • Issues demand notices and statutory notices timely after advice from Recovery department.
  • Provides timely legal advice to business units and management on compliance, corporate governance, and banking regulations.
  • Reviews securities, contracts, and banking documents regularly.
  • Identifies key legal risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Manages fees and costs associated with litigation.
  • Attends Court, Tribunals, and Arbitration on behalf of the Bank.
  • Prepares litigation reports for Head of Legal, Credit, Group, and Board.

Minimum Position Qualification Requirements

Academic & Professional

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)
  • Advocate of High Court
  • Master’s degree in Laws/Business Administration/Banking (preferred)
