About SCIS
St. Constantine’s International School (SCIS) was founded in 1951 and is the oldest international school in Tanzania, as well as the largest international school in northern Tanzania. We are a not-for-profit, non-denominational, co-educational, day and boarding, international school. We are predominantly a Cambridge International School, following the EYFS programme in Early Years and then the Cambridge International Programme from Years 1 to 9. In Years 10 and 11, students study the Cambridge IGCSEs and, in Years 12 and 13, they mainly study the Cambridge A-level programme. We are also proud members of Round Square.
Role Overview
Reports to: Head of Secondary
The Secondary Cover Supervisor will provide high-quality cover for absent teachers across various subjects and year groups (Key Stages 3–5). The ideal candidate will confidently manage classrooms, deliver pre-prepared lessons, and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
Key Responsibilities
- Cover lessons within the Secondary Section (Primary cover may be required exceptionally).
- Manage pupil behavior and maintain discipline in classrooms and school premises.
- Coordinate curriculum activities and resources, supporting colleagues as needed.
- Participate in school events, outings, and weekend/evening activities.
- Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to different age groups and abilities.
- Undertake pastoral duties, including form tutor responsibilities.
- Engage in professional development through observations and INSET training.
Experience & Qualifications
- Essential: Minimum 2 years of teaching experience.
- Desirable: Experience with English/Cambridge curriculum or curriculum development.
