Senior Finance and Administrative Assistant at ILO

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Grade: G6 | Contract: 12 months (fixed-term, renewable)

Salary: UGX 86,252,000/year (entry level)

Project Background

Trade for Jobs Uganda is a five-year initiative (2025–2030) co-led by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Using a market systems approach, the project leverages trade as a driver for decent job creation and income generation for women and men living in poverty in Uganda, by strengthening two high-potential sectors: dairy and tourism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth project administration, office management, and operational support.
  • Process financial transactions in compliance with ILO rules and regulations.
  • Advise staff on administrative procedures and prepare travel arrangements.
  • Organize workshops/seminars and maintain liaison with stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, cost estimates, and budget projections.
  • Monitor accounts, optimize fund utilization, and supervise junior staff.
  • Handle procurement, equipment maintenance, and office security.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary school education with formal training in accounting/finance.
  • University degree in Accounting, Administration, or related field (advantage).

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of operational/financial support experience.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., ILO’s IRIS).

Languages & Competencies

  • Excellent English proficiency (written/spoken).
  • Knowledge of IPSAS or similar accounting standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and ability to work under pressure.

Conditions of Employment

  • Fixed-term contract (12 months) subject to project approval.
  • Only candidates with valid residency/work permit in Uganda eligible.
