Job Purpose

The Regional Audit Manager (RAM) for East Africa Region supports the Regional Audit Director (RAD) in providing leadership to a team of Regional Senior Auditors (RSA) and Regional Auditors (RA) in the National Office (NO) portfolio assigned within East Africa Region, in the provision of independent objective assurance and advisory on the portfolio’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership, Planning and Communication

  • Provide insight and pragmatic recommendations to National Leadership and Local Boards on risk management, internal controls, and governance.
  • Present quarterly audit results to NO Leadership and local Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • Supervise RSA and RA teams, including talent management and budget oversight.
  • Develop WVI’s combined assurance model with other assurance providers.

Promote and Ensure GAA Regional Team’s High Performance

  • Oversee audit team operations and performance frameworks aligned with Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
  • Enhance assurance and advisory reviews to add value to WVI’s strategic initiatives.

Promote and Ensure High Quality Assurance & Advisory Standards

  • Evaluate and communicate audit outcomes to leadership and ARCs.
  • Recommend improvements to governance policies, risk management, and control environments.

Drive Innovation

  • Improve GAA Team’s communication skills, soft skills, and project execution.

Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or relevant field; MBA is a plus.
  • CPA and/or Chartered Financial Accountant or equivalent.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years in internal/external audit (3 at managerial level).
  • Proven strategic thinking, business acumen, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Excellent English communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cross-cultural INGO experience, IT audit, fraud investigation (CFE a plus).
  • Data mining & analytics proficiency.
