About the Position

The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Mechanic (Security Systems) in the Engineering Security Office.

Key Responsibilities

Active Vehicle Barriers and Control Systems (25%)

  • Develop and manage AVBCS maintenance and repair program
  • Prepare maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Train local staff on maintenance and minor repairs
  • Inspect and verify maintenance regimens meet DS standards
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on AVBCS

Closed-Circuit Television Systems (25%)

  • Develop and manage CCTV maintenance program
  • Ensure cameras and monitors are maintained optimally
  • Perform regular camera cleaning, focusing, and alignment
  • Maintain and repair camera support structures
  • Identify improvements to CCTV coverage

Other Security Systems (20%)

Perform maintenance on non-CAA security systems including locks, public address systems, metal detectors, and explosive detection equipment.

FE/BR Doors and Windows (15%)

Inspect, install, and maintain forced entry/ballistic resistant doors and windows, making recommendations for improvements.

Administrative Duties (15%)

Use CMMS for work documentation, perform inventory management, and complete travel/budget reporting tasks.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in electrical/mechanical equipment repair and installation
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams

Education

Two-year diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field.

Language

Level III (good working knowledge) in both English and Kiswahili.
