Job Summary

Overall Job Purpose

Responsible for growing Livestock financing through new business acquisition, processing and assessing credit applications from branches, put forward proposals for livestock business development and ensure booking of quality loans.

Key Accountabilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Customer Acquisition & Credit Assessment: Identify and onboard livestock farmers, cooperatives, and agribusiness enterprises. Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and provide advisory support on financing options.
  • Loan Structuring & Disbursement: Design financing solutions tailored to livestock cycles (e.g., dairy, poultry, beef, piggery). Recommend suitable products such as working capital loans, asset finance, or insurance-backed credit.
  • Monitoring & Portfolio Management: Regularly monitor financed farms/projects to track performance and repayment ability. Identify early warning signs of distress and recommend remedial actions.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure adherence to credit policies, sector regulations, and animal health standards. Promote livestock insurance and risk-sharing mechanisms.
  • Capacity Building & Advisory: Educate farmers on financial literacy, record keeping, and best livestock management practices.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare periodic performance reports on livestock loan portfolio. Document lessons learned, emerging opportunities, and challenges in the sector.

Role / Person Specification

Education and Experience Required

Education: Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine (BVM) or its equivalent or related fields. Knowledge of livestock production systems (dairy, poultry, beef, goat, piggery, etc.) and value chains.

Experience: 3–5 years of work experience in agribusiness financing, agricultural lending, or microfinance, with exposure to livestock clients.

  • Ability to balance credit risk with business growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to rural/field locations.
